Fun Things to Do in Jamaica

Jamaica. ... Just the name conjures images of beautiful landscapes, sparkling blue oceans and friendly people. And, of course Bob Marley, the late singer-songwriter who was widely known for his reggae music. Watching gorgeous sunsets, experiencing the native food and culture and splashing around in water so crystal clear it leaves one speechless are usually the first things on any tourist's agenda, but Jamaica has so much more to offer.
  1. Dunn's River Falls

    • Dunn's River Falls is a magnificent waterfall that flows into the Caribbean Sea. Growing along side the falls is a tropical paradise of lush, tropical foliage. The waters are believed by the natives to be therapeutic in nature.

The path to the falls begins in beautiful red sand and the climb is nothing short of incredible. The tourists hold hands to form a chain and begin the 900-foot climb in single file up the falls.

Along the way, the guides stop and allow the tourists to experience the many breathtaking lagoons the falls have created.

Once at the top, the natives are waiting to adorn the climbers with handmade trinkets of bead and bamboo. Relaxing on the beach at the end of the climb while listening to the water falling from above is the ultimate way to end this trip.

    Dolphin Cove

    • The attraction is the seaside nature park in Ocho Rios, where one can actually swim with the dolphins. This park is a family adventure filled with swimming, interacting with the dolphins, food and dance, and is fast becoming one of Jamaica's finest attractions.

The cove sits in amongst a lush rain forest where nature walks are allowed with a guide.

Other activities include snorkeling, taking a glass-bottom boat ride in the crystal clear water, shows and swimming on white sandy beaches.

    Nine Miles

    • The Zion Bus to Nine Miles is the ultimate way to experience the life that was Bob Marley. One never even thinks of the ride as being five hours long as there is music and stunning scenery ever step of the way.

The tour takes visitors to the home of Marley, Jamaica's most famous native singer. The road twists and turns through tropical rain forests and up into the mountains above Jamaica's north coast. Reggae music is played throughout the trip and the guides keep you laughing with stories of Marley.

Once the bus reaches Nine Mile, the tourists are allowed to visit the tomb where Marley is laid on the side of Mount Zion.
