Beaches for Spring Vacation

Spring break is one of the most anticipated times for a college student. For most college students, it is a time to travel with friends, enjoy the sun and party. Families also take advantage of the school break to fly somewhere with the kids. Some adults also want to travel just to break away from the daily routine. Beaches in and out of the United States are some of the most attractive destinations.
  1. Family Friendly Spring Vacation

    • Loews Coronado Bay in San Diego is listed on the Travel Channel's Top 10 Family Spring Break Vacations as one of the most family friendly destinations. The Silver Strand State Beach is one of the top beaches in the world for its preservation of sea life. The beach features sand dollars, plover birds and various plants. Other top family spring destinations include Poipu Beach, Hawaii, and Captiva Island in Florida. The Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort offers an upscale pool complex that includes saltwater lagoons, freshwater pools with waterfalls and a 150-foot slide where children can play. Captiva Island, according to the Travel Channel, offers sanctuary for a family seeking to get away from the throngs on most Florida beaches.

    Affordable Spring Vacation Beaches

    • Daytona Beach, Florida, South Padre Island, Texas, and Ocean City in Maryland were ranked on "U.S. News & World Report's" Best Cheap Spring Break Destinations in 2011. U.S. News & World Report picked Daytona Beach partly because of its affordability, with a chain of hotels, restaurants and package deals for students in springtime. South Padre and Ocean City are also reasonably priced, according to the "U.S. News & World Report," and are easily accessible from the surrounding areas.

Luxury and Expensive Spring Vacation Beaches

    • If you want to indulge by going to a top and exclusive spring beach vacation, Harbor Island in the Bahamas, the Riviera Mayo and Cab San Lucas in Mexico offer a variety of options. These destinations offer luxury hotels and trendy restaurants. Hotels in Cab San Lucas cost more than $1,000 per night, and meals are prepared by Michelin-starred chefs. The Harbor Island, only 50 miles from Jamaica, has placid pink-sand beaches with hotels costing between $500 and $2,000 per night. The Riviera Mayo is a private resort on a private beach with prices starting at around $800 per night. Prices are as of March 2011.

    Adults-Only Spring Vacation Beaches

    • The "Inland Sun Times" lists the Hacienda Encitada Resort and Spa in Los Cabos, Mexico, the Wailea Resort Hotel and Spa in Maui and the Hilton Waikoloa Village, Hawaii, as some of the best adult-only spring vacation destinations. Outside of the United States, Sandals Grande Antigua Resort and Spa also features prominently among adults-only destinations. Adults-only, all-inclusive beaches such as the Hidden Beach Resort in Cancun, Mexico, and Secrets Sanctuary Caplana in the Dominican Republic allow nudity.
