Featuring live events every day of the year, 1048 Jazz and Blues is one of Montgomery's premier venues for live music. The club has a comfortable atmosphere, with warm red walls, a small bar and a small stage. In addition to jazz and blues musicians, 1048 also books musicians and bands playing in a variety of other genres, ranging from folk to punk rock. Every Wednesday the club hosts its cover-free potluck jam night. 1048 is located just down the street from Huntingdon College and the Montgomery Country Club.

Featuring local as well as national acts, Head on the Door attracts young, boisterous crowds. Commonly featured genres include hard rock, acoustic folk and country-western. Bands from Alabama that have played at Head on the Door include the Honky Tonk Hustlas, Diverge and Alamantra. The club is also home to its grand, signature mural celebrating musical legends such as Jim Morrison, Bob Dylan and Elvis Presley. In a basement setting with wafts of tobacco and strong whiskey floating through the air, Sous La Terra is a classic, Southern jazz club. Live jazz is featured Fridays and Saturdays and the club's house musician is keyboardist Henry Pugh, Jr. Sous La Terra is well known among the jazz community and renowned musicians such as Wynton Marsalis have visited the club. The club doesn't open its doors until 11 p.m., but stays open until the last person leaves. The club is private and memberships can be purchased at the door. Sous La Terre is located downtown, at the corner of Commerce and Bibb.
