Sonar is a three-room club in Baltimore with dance nights as well as live shows. The Main Stage room accommodates more than 1,000 guests and hosts large live performances and special events. The Club Room holds 300 guests and is where most of the dance nights are held. Finally, the Talking Head Club has a capacity of 150 and is where Sonar has more intimate shows with touring indie rock bands. Most shows are open to all ages, but the club occasionally hosts both 18-plus and 21-plus shows. There is no formal dress code. The club reserves the right to deny entry to anyone who might pose a security risk.

The Hippo, which has served Baltimore's gay and lesbian community since 1972, has been voted the best gay bar in Baltimore by the City Paper for four years. It also is the largest nightclub complex in Baltimore, boasting three bars under one roof: a dance club, a video bar and a cocktail saloon. Events at the Hippo include bingo, show-tune videos and free pool with the purchase of a drink every Monday.

Latin Palace provides Baltimore with an array of Latin-based dance music including reggaeton, merengue, salsa and bachata. The club also boasts a broad menu of Latin food. Those interested in honing their dance skills can take salsa and tango instruction Wednesday and Thursday nights, and patrons who purchase dinner get half off the cost of dance lessons. The Ottobar is a Baltimore institution. Emphasizing heavy, alternative and indie rock, the Ottobar is the place for those who appreciate underground rock bands. The club has consistently been chosen by the readers of the Baltimore City Paper as the best rock club in the city. National acts that have perfomed at the Ottobar include the Melvins, KRS-One, At the Drive-In, Coheed and Cambria, and the Bouncing Souls. When not hosting rock bands, the club holds butcher knife throwing contests, Morrissey karaoke, spelling bees and the Underground dance party, a night of Britpop and vintage punk rock.
