What form of Malay do Indonesians speak?

Indonesian is a standardised form of Malay, originally based on the Riau dialect. Indonesian has been an official language of Indonesia since the country's independence in 1945. Although Standard Indonesian is the official language of Indonesia, Indonesian citizens do not consider it to be their mother tongue.
