Is the hawaiian language considered a language?
The Hawaiian language (ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi), is indeed considered a language. It falls under the Polynesian branch of the Oceanic language family. It developed in isolation for centuries on the Hawaiian Islands. However, the native language has experienced a decline since the late 18th century with the arrival of missionaries and foreign influence but efforts have been made to preserve and rejuvenate it in recent years.
