In the state of Alabama, the traffic law that covers broken windshields is as follows:

- Section 32-5-200 of the Alabama Code of 1975 states:

>(a) It is unlawful for a person to drive or operate any vehicle on a highway with one or more windshields that have one or more cracks, breaks, or other defects that interfere with the clear vision of the driver.

(b) A windshield shall not be deemed to be defective, within the meaning of this section, if the cracks or breaks are repaired in accordance with the standards established by the department of Public Safety.

(c) Any person convicted of a violation of this section shall be guilty of a Class C misdemeanor.
