Take at least three books with you on your flight. Even if you read slowly, choose a minimum of three books. Having multiple books on hand gives you choices, which is helpful if one book becomes too boring for you or if you don't like it.

    • 2

Carry a fully charged MP3 player or other music player with reliable headphones or earphones onto the plane. Ensuring the device's battery is fully charged will prevent the battery from dying mid-flight.

    • 3

Take bottled water onto the plane. Even though the airline most likely will provide food and beverages, taking your own water in addition to what it provides will help you prevent dehydration.

    • 4

Walk during the flight. Staying in an airplane's small seat for several hours at a time can cause blood clots called deep vein thromboses, the their occurrence is rare. The clots can dislodge and head to the lungs, which may be fatal.

    • 5

Limit alcohol consumption or don't consume alcohol during the flight. Alcohol may help you relax, but it also may increase motion sickness.
