TSA Regulations on Baby Bottles

When traveling with infants or small children, parents are afforded special exemptions from the current TSA regulations regarding carry-on liquids.
  1. Quantity

    • Baby formula, breast milk and juice for infants and small children are permitted in reasonable quantities in excess of the 3.4-oz. carry-on maximum for other liquids. Try not to bring more than you need, as the TSA representative at the checkpoint will decide what constitutes a reasonable quantity.

    Separate

    • You must carry liquids intended for babies and children separately from your other carry-on liquids. Unlike your other liquids, these are not required to be placed in a clear plastic zipper-top sandwich bag, but this can expedite the process.

    Security Checkpoint

    • When you reach the security checkpoint, inform the TSA representative if you are traveling with liquids contained in baby bottles or toddler cups.

    Additional Inspection

    • Be prepared that baby bottles will undergo additional inspection at the X-ray terminal.

    Mothers Traveling Without Children

    • Mothers traveling without their children are permitted to carry on breast milk in reasonable quantities as determined by TSA security personnel.

    TSA Recommendation

    • The TSA asks travelers to bring only the amount of baby liquids needed to reach their destination.
