Air Travel Packing Regulations

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) regulates air travel. For passengers traveling to or from the U.S. certain restrictions apply to luggage. Being aware of the most current airline regulations makes air travel easier.
  1. Liquids

    • Liquids must follow the 3-1-1 rule. 3.4 ounce bottles of liquid must fit in one quart-sized clear plastic bag and one bag is allowed per traveler. Liquids such as baby formula, medication, breast milk and food can be declared upon check-in at the airport.

    Prohibited

    • Sharp objects, guns, sporting goods, tools and martial arts items must be checked in your luggage and are not allowed in carry-on luggage. Explosive or combustible materials are not allowed in checked or carry-on luggage.

    Luggage Locks

    • TSA-approved locks can be purchased from retailers. These locks have a universal master key that can be opened by an airport screener rather than be cut.
