Delta Air Travel Regulations

Before you arrive at the airport for your Delta flight, take the time to make sure that you are well informed about the Delta air travel regulations that apply to you. Depending on where you are traveling, and who you are traveling with, and the type and number of bags that you are bringing, different regulations will apply to you.
  1. Check-In

    • All passengers 18 and older are required to show a valid driver's license or government-issued ID in order to board their plane. For international flights, all passengers, including minor children, must have valid passports. Check-in times vary depending on the destination, but passengers should expect to arrive at the airport approximately one to two hours before their flight leaves in order to allow time for security screening and other check-in procedures.

    Baggage

    • Delta travelers are allowed to carry on one briefcase, camera bag, or laptop computer bag per person. Travelers can also carry on food and drink items that have been purchased after they have cleared the security checkpoints, as well as a jacket, an umbrella, and other small personal items. Passengers may bring infant seats, crutches, and wheelchairs on board as well. Oversized bags and bags that exceed the permitted amount of carry-on luggage per person must be checked.

    Pets

    • Small pets, including dogs and cats weighing less than 25 pounds and other pets that can fit into an airline-approved under the seat carrier, can travel in the aircraft cabin. All other pets must be transported via the cargo section. A certificate of good health is required for all pets traveling via Delta Airlines.
