Personal items in liquid form may be carried onto flights provided they adhere to airline guidelines. Each liquid container must be 3 oz. or less. Liquids must be placed in a 1 qt. clear bag. Only one bag of liquids is allowed per passenger. Each bag of liquids must be presented at the security checkpoint. This rule applies to all airlines. Medications also are required to be declared at security.
Sharp objects are not permitted as carry-on items under any circumstance, on any airline. Sharp objects may be placed in checked luggage. Sharp objects that are used on a regular basis, such as razors, tweezers and small scissors, are not permitted as carry-on luggage. Sporting goods may be brought along on your flight but only as checked luggage. Tools may also be checked but not carried on.
Guns and ammunition may not be brought onto a flight as carry-on luggage. They are required to be checked. Flares and gun powder are not permitted on aircraft at all, even as checked luggage. No explosives or flammable gels or liquids may be carried on or in checked baggage.
Passengers are limited to one carry on item each, in addition to a purse, handbag or laptop. Size restrictions for carry-on luggage apply, although they differ from airline to airline. Check your airline's carry-on policy before departure for the acceptable size allowance. Passengers traveling with children are allowed one carry on per adult as well as a personal item, such as a purse or briefcase, and a diaper bag.
Passengers traveling with children are permitted to bring formula, breast milk, juice and baby food aboard their flights as carry-on items. These items may be carried on in quantities more than 3 oz. Each baby item must be declared at security and might be tested by security officers.
