- Must be between 17 and 40 years old
- Must be physically and mentally fit
- Must have a clean criminal record
- Must be able to speak and understand French
- Must be willing to serve for a minimum of five years
Process:
1. Visit the nearest French Foreign Legion recruitment center. There are many offices around the world.
2. Fill out an application form and provide the necessary documents, including:
- Birth certificate
- Passport or national ID card
- Military service record (if applicable)
- Criminal record check
- Medical certificate
3. Take a series of tests, including:
- Physical fitness test
- Medical examination
- Psychological evaluation
- Language proficiency test
4. If you pass all of the tests, you will be offered a contract to join the Foreign Legion. The contract is for a minimum of five years, but you can sign on for longer if you wish.
5. Once you sign the contract, you will be sent to basic training. Basic training lasts for four months and takes place in France.
6. After basic training, you will be assigned to a unit and deployed to a foreign country.
