- Hepatitis A: It is recommended that all travelers to Somalia get a hepatitis A shot. The shot is usually given in a series of two, with the first shot given at least 2 weeks before your trip and the second shot given 6 to 12 months later.
- Hepatitis B: It is also recommended that travelers to Somalia get vaccinated for hepatitis B. The vaccine usually requires three doses over the course of six months.
- Typhoid Fever: Typhoid fever is a bacterial disease that can cause high fever, vomiting, and diarrhoea. The typhoid fever vaccination is usually given in a single dose and will protect you for two to three years.
- Yellow Fever: Yellow Fever is a mosquito-borne disease that can cause fever, chills, muscle aches, and nausea. The yellow fever vaccine is usually given in a single dose and will protect you for up to 10 years.
Additionally, other recommended vaccines include Meningococcal Meningitis, Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR), Tetanus, Diphtheria and Polio (Tdap), Polio, and Rabies.
