Michigan Water Parks

For those seeking a wet, fun-filled adventure in Michigan, the state offers an large array of water parks. Michigan boasts 10 different indoor and outdoor water parks, each with a unique theme and a variety of activities. Whether you are looking to splash around with the little ones, or race your partner or friends down water slides, water parks can turn a lazy afternoon into one of pure excitement.
  1. Avalanche Bay Indoor Water Park

    • This water park, situated in Boyne Falls, offers 88,000 square feet of space and is billed as the largest water park in Michigan. The park features climbing walls, kids' pools, a number of water slides, river floats and even surfing.

    Chandler Park Family Aquatic Center

    • The only park located in Detroit, it is situated across from the City of Detroit's public complex that features an 18-hole golf course, athletic field, walking trails and playgrounds, in addition to some of the city's most famous landmarks. Open from mid-May to mid-September, this outdoor water park can be enjoyed when things get heated up. The water park features an adult pool, a children's activity pool and a number of slides.

    Double JJ Ranch Resort

    • The Double JJ Ranch Resort in Rothbury features the Gold Rush Indoor Water Park, designed to provide families with hours of fun. The resort offers Michigan's tallest water slide and a number of activities aside from the water park, to include horseback riding, golfing and during winter, plenty of opportunities for sledding and snow tubing.

    Full Blast

    • If you are near Battle Creek, you will want to visit Full Blast. This park provides the public with pools for swimming and a variety of water rides for both kids and adults. The park features both indoor and outdoor components, with the outdoor activities open from Memorial day through Labor day.

    Great Wolf Lodge

    • This is billed as the nation's largest family of indoor water parks, with a location in Traverse City, Michigan. In addition to the water park, the lodge offer family suites for those who intend on spending a few days soaking in the fun.

    Northpointe Inn Indoor Water Park Resort

    • A 23,000-square-foot water park located in Mackinaw City, this park offers the family a variety of activities to include a child's pool, water slides, a 250-foot-long river to traverse and an adult swimming pool with a water walk. You can also enjoy video games and even a relaxing spa. In addition, the Northpointe Inn offers a variety of hotel accommodations to meet your budget.

    Red Oaks Water Park

    • Located in Madison Heights, Red Oaks Water Park was voted "Best Michigan water park" in 2010 by the Daily Tribune's Reader's Choice Contest. The park features a 990-foot-long river, along with a children's water playground offering over 68 different activities and a heated pool.

    Splash Universe RiverRun Indoor Water Park

    • Located in Dundee, this water park is under renovation as of January 2011 because of a tornado that devastated the area during 2010. Once complete, the water park will be the newest water park in Michigan, offering a variety of water activities for adults and children alike.

    Thunder Falls

    • This park, found in Mackinaw City, features a wave pool with 12 different slides, along with a variety of thrills rides for both adults and children. Other attractions include Thunder Lake, Kick Back Creek and Izzly Woods. The park is open from mid-June until 15 September.

    Michigan WildWater Adventure

    • This outdoor complex features both a ride park and a water park for adults and children. The park season runs from the last week in May until the second week of September. It offers roller coasters and other thrill rides, along with a number of water slides, a pool and a lazy river to name a few.
