Zero the combination tumblers. This means turning the dials to zero straight across the code level. Look for an arrow or fletch mark indicating the line where the numbers set to. Set them all to zero at this point.
Insert the reset tool or wrench into the dedicated hole or opening. Some locks require the tool be removed once the mechanism is triggered while others require pressure be maintained on the device in the hole.
Turn the tumbler dials to the number you want for the luggage lock code.
Remove the tool and turn the tumblers randomly.
Turn the tumblers back to the code you just programmed to test the efficacy of the new code and lock. Make sure the lock opens. If not, repeat the sequence and test again.
