When was it mandatory to register weddings in the UK?

In England and Wales, weddings became compulsory to register in 1837 when The Marriage Act came into effect. In Scotland, it has been mandatory to register weddings since 1595 by order of an Act of the Parliament of Scotland, while in Northern Ireland the date is 1845 following The Marriage Registration Act.
