Take a photo of yourself in normal lighting. You can either do this by setting your camera to automatic or having a friend take the photo for you. Remember that there must be a white or off-white backdrop. One way to do this is by using a clean, flattened bed sheet.
Upload the image onto your computer either by using a USB cord to connect the camera to your computer directly, or remove the memory card and place it in your card reader. Most computers have multiple card readers for this very reason. Once the card or cable is connected to your computer, a new window will appear. Click on the "browse folder" option and search for the image you just took. Click and drag it onto your computer (your desktop may be easiest) and then disconnect your camera or remove your memory card.
Open a photo editing program that will allow you to resize and crop the image based on the passport specifications in your country. Some of these programs include Photoshop, Gimp, Paintshop Pro or Pic Resize online. Try and make it so your face is centered and there's a little white space at the top.
Save the image and then click on "print." In the print options, there should be one for passport photos. Click on this option and make it so the image is high quality. You can improve the quality of your printed photos by going into "properties" and changing the settings there. Printing on a normal home printer will result in one sheet with six to eight copies on it. Keep the leftover photos in case you need them later on. You can also print your photo by connecting your camera to a photo printer. However, the image may not be centered, so it's best to edit first on the computer and then transfer the image back onto your camera. Select the image from the list and ask your photo printer to print a passport image. Should either printer not have an option for passport images, you can input the dimensions manually. Your printer will print 6-8 images per page depending on the settings you choose.
