Applicants for an Australian visa through VFS in India or Nepal should send in their applications to a VFS office close to their location. VFS has offices in major Indian cities -- including Mumbai, New Delhi, Bangalore and Chennai -- as well as in Kathmandu, the Nepalese capital. You are not required to send your papers to a particular VFS office, but the agency advises sending it to a location closest to where you are based. Along with the application, you should send in your application fee and required supporting documents.
In addition to passports, you should submit any required supporting documentation for the specific visa, such as tourist or business visa, for which you are applying. All applicants must also submit photocopies of the biodata page of their current passport and photocopies of any endorsement or change of name pages in your passport. For current Indian passports, you must submit a photocopy of the back page with information about your parents' names and previous passports.
You must also submit a photograph that was taken no more than six months prior to your application. The color photograph, which should show your entire face without anything covering it, should be taken against a light background so that your features are visible. The photograph should be of high resolution and printed on high-quality paper.
