U.S. citizens can enter the Philippines without a visa provided there is six months left before their passport expires and they have proof of a departing ticket either to the United States or to another nation. They are allowed to visit for 21 days, and an annotation on their passport will indicate this.
For stays of 21 days or longer, visitors must apply for an extension at the Philippine Bureau of Immigration and Deportation's main office at Magallanes Drive, Intramuros, Manila, or at any of its provincial offices.
Visitors are strongly discouraged from staying longer than regulations permit. Those who overstay are subjected to fines and detention by Philippine immigration authorities.
Unaccompanied minors wishing to travel to the Philippines must obtain a waiver of exclusion from a Philippine Embassy or Consulate, or from the Bureau of Immigration and Detention in Manila. This requirement exists for all children under 15 who are unaccompanied by either a parent or legal guardian. It exists to aid in the prevention of international child abduction.
All U.S. citizens are required to present a valid U.S. passport for entry and re-entry into the United States. An application for a passport can be made at an approved Passport Acceptance Facility, or, if simply renewing, through the mail.
The U.S. Department of State encourages all Americans planning on visiting the Philippines to register with the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate. Registration makes it easier to contact them in the event of an emergency. The U.S. Embassy is located at 1201 Roxas Blvd., Manila, Philippines, (+63) (2) 301-2000. The American Citizen Services (ACS) section's fax number is (+63) (2) 301-2017.
