Guests who plan to enter China from a foreign country must apply for a visa. Group visas can be obtained for groups of five or more and are most often handled by travel agencies.
A valid passport is required when applying for a visa to China. The passport must be valid for at least 6 months past the intended stay in China with enough blank pages and a recent photo.
A visa is most often valid for 3 months from the date of issuance. A visa permits a 1 month stay in China. Longer stays must be approved by the Chinese council and requested at the time of the visa application.
If a person reveals that he has been sick recently, had an infectious disease or is a carrier, he will most likely be rejected from obtaining a Chinese visa.
Those with certain political affiliations and/or ties may be rejected from receiving a Chinese visa.
Chinese authorities have the right, without explanation, to reject or approve any visa application without cause or reason.
