How to Apply for a Visa to Visit Dubai, UAE

Visiting the hip, swanky emirate of Dubai is relatively easy. If you are a citizen of the U.S., Canada, the U.K. or another "visa-free" country, you can obtain a 30-day visa upon your arrival at the Dubai International Airport. However, if your nationality requires you to obtain a visa before departure, here's how to apply for one.

Instructions

    • 1

Have a valid passport. You passport must be valid for at least 3 months beyond the date of your intended departure from Dubai.

    • 2

Make a hotel reservation. To obtain a tourist visa, Dubai requires that you are sponsored by a person or entity in Dubai. Many hotels in Dubai have the authority to act as your sponsor. Confirm that your hotel has this authority when you make the reservation.

    • 3

Fax a copy of your passport to your hotel. An authorized hotel will arrange for your visa if you fax them a copy of your passport, a statement explaining the reason for your visit (e.g., tourism) and the date of your expected arrival. Be prepared to pay a processing fee of $28.

Wait for your hotel to fax you a copy of the visa. Some airlines require that you show your visa before you board the airplane to Dubai, so it's important that you have the document prior to your departure. The visa will be valid for a 30-day visit and is nonrenewable.
