Complete two copies of the visa application form. The visa application can be downloaded off of the United Arab Emirates website. Each application is a single page long and asks for information regarding your citizenship, passport, contact information and what dependents you will be travelling with. You will have to attach an additional passport photo of yourself to each form. This means two additional passport photos will have to be taken (one for each copy of the visa application).
Obtain a national passport. The passport must be issued by your country of citizenship, be valid for at least six months from the intended date of arrival, and must have at least one completely blank page on the inside. Also, make a copy of your passport. The photocopy of your passport and the original will have to be submitted with the application package.
Acquire a letter from the individual or organization that requested/set up your visit to Dubai. If an individual (like a family member or a friend) is writing the letter, he will have to place several pieces of information within the letter: name of the sponsor/ individual, an invitation to visit, address and phone number of the sponsor/ individual, estimated duration of the visit and a statement saying that the individual will accept responsibly for you. He must provide a copy of his passport and proof of residency in the United Arab Emirates.
If you are travelling with an organization, the organization will have to write a letter on your behalf with the following items: the organization name, the reason for visiting, acceptance of responsibly and a contact name and phone number for the organization. The organization will have to provide a copy of the business license.
Provide a letter of employment. This just needs to state that you hold a paying position in the United States. If you are self-employed, you must provide a copy of your business license instead of the letter of employment.
Write a cover letter. The cover letter needs to state your complete name, your reasons for wanting to come to Dubai and the length of time you will be staying.
Obtain a money order for the visa processing fee. As of April 2010, the visa application fee was $51. The money order will be submitted with the rest of the required documentation.
Go to your local post office and obtain a self-addressed return envelope for the return of your passport. You will include this in the package so you can get your passport back after your visa is granted or denied.
Submit the visa application package. Submit all of the paperwork for your trip to Dubai to the United Arab Emirates Embassy. The application can be submitted through the mail or in person.
