How to Apply for a Cayman Visa

For many people, a visit to the Cayman Islands requires nothing more than a valid passport and an airline ticket to prove you're not planning to drop anchor there. With a glance at these two documents, immigration officials will allow citizens from more than 60 countries roam around the Islands for up to six months. However, for people who do not come from countries on the visa-free entry list, people coming to the Caymans to work, students, or those seeking to stay for longer than six months, a visa is required.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate your nearest British Embassy or Consulate and contact them directly to make an appointment to apply for a Cayman Islands Visa. This may seem odd, but the Cayman Islands are a British Territory, and so immigration issues fall under the jurisdiction of the United Kingdom. Also, inquire as to the current acceptable payment methods and visa application fees.

    • 2

Go to the Cayman Islands Immigration page and download two copies of the visa application (see Resources for link).

    • 3

Fill in all required information on both applications in ink, including whether or not you require a multiple-entry visa or a single-entry visa. There is no extra charge for the multiple-entry option. The application is four pages in length and asks detailed questions about you and your family, your purpose for visiting the Caymans, the length of your intended visit and your finances. Do not forget to sign and date your applications.

    • 4

Have two passport photographs taken against a white background, showing your full face without headgear of sunglasses. Glue the photos into the spaces provided in the application.

    • 5

Ensure you are in possession of the following items: a current passport which will be valid for at least six more months, your birth certificate, and current bank statements.

    • 6

Make photocopies of the documents you have collected as well as any which you feel may support your application- letters of acceptance into a Cayman Island academic program, offers of employment, accommodation arrangements, proof of onward travel, and so forth. The documents will vary depending on your reason for requesting a visa.

    • 7

Arrive at the British Embassy on the date of your appointment. It is best to arrive early as they tend to schedule a number of people for the same time slot and it may be crowded. Bring all your documentation (originals and photocopies), both applications and the relevant fees with you.

    • 8

Submit your passport, application and any supporting documentation to the immigration official at the counter and pay the application fee. Keep your receipt.

    • 9

Return in ten working days with your receipt and a photo ID to collect your visa and all your original materials.
