How to Build a Homemade Boat Anchor

Making a homemade anchor for your boat is one way to save money. A five-pound anchor that holds a 1,000-pound boat can easily cost around $150. The materials for a homemade anchor can all be found at the local hardware store for a fraction of the cost. Besides saving money, this can make for an ideal family craft project. Remember that length of the rope is very important when making a homemade anchor because you want the anchor to sink to the bottom of the lake or pond. The goal of the homemade anchor is to keep the boat stable and still in the water.
