How to Repair a Coleman Airbed

Coleman air beds may leak air after some use. The mattress can develop a puncture or tear from a sharp object or pressure on the seam. Air mattresses become uncomfortable as a result of even a small leak. A large leak can mean finding yourself lying uncomfortably on the ground in the morning. Smooth air mattresses provide an easier repair surface than the types with fuzzy, flocked surfaces. However, with the proper tools, you can repair even flocked Coleman air beds.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Inflate the air bed and listen for the sound of air escaping from the mattress. Fill your spray bottle with soapy water, shake, and spray the mixture onto the mattress where you hear the air escaping. Watch for air bubbles forming around the leak. It may help to sit on the mattress to make the leak more obvious.

    • 2

Purchase a Coleman patch kit by calling the Coleman customer service number, 1-800-835-3278. Alternatively, buy a patch kit at a retail store or purchase vinyl glue and a vinyl patch at a hardware store.

    • 3

Apply three coats of the patch kit sealer to the leak location with a paint brush. Allow to dry 10 minutes between each coat.

    • 4

Apply the patch material to the leaking spot you glued on the air mattress.

    • 5

Brush five coats of the patch kit sealer over the patch. Allow to dry 10 minutes between each coat.

    • 6

Inflate the air mattress to make sure the leak has been fixed.
