How to Repair a Hole in a Canvas for a Pop Up Camper

Canvas is a very thick and durable material, but it can develop holes if constantly exposed to the elements. Holes in your pop-up camper might ruin a camping trip; repairing a hole as soon as it appears prevents further damage. Repair holes in the canvas of your camper with a canvas repair kit. This approach is far less costly than taking the camper to a professional upholstery shop.

Instructions

    • 1

Measure the size of the hole in the canvas. Add 2 inches to the measurements; this ensures that the hole is completely covered by the patch.

    • 2

Lay your repair canvas on a flat work surface; draw the dimensions on the patch with a pencil. Use a pair of scissors to cut the patch to the appropriate dimensions.

    • 3

Make a second, indentical patch. This is used on the inside of the pop-up trailer.

    • 4

Apply the adhesive -- found in the repair kit -- to the back of one of the patches. Press it firmly over the hole on the camper's exterior.

    • 5

Apply the second patch over the hole on the interior of the pop-up camper's canvas.

    • 6

Allow the patches to dry completely before folding down the canvas camper. Cover the camper with a tarp -- if it is in an outdoor location --to prevent rain from ruining the patch before it dries.
