You need a visa to study in the UK if you are not an European Economic Area (EEA) national and intend to study for more than 6 months.
You will need relevant educational documents and proof that you have been accepted into a course by a UK university, college or school.
You will also need proof that you will be able to support yourself financially for the duration of your course.
Students cannot work for more than 20 hours per week unless the work is part of your studies. You also cannot be self-employed.
Your spouse or civil partner is eligible for a visa as well, as are any children under 18. Your spouse or partner will be eligible to work if you are staying for at least a year.
You may need to register with the police if you are staying for more than 6 months, depending on your nationality.
