Rules for the Wildwood Crest Beaches

Wildwood Crest, New Jersey, is one of the state's premier tourist spots, welcoming millions of visitors per year. To ensure the safety of everyone who visits this exciting beach town, it is important to follow the beach rules and regulations.
  1. Beach Hours

    • Wildwood Crest beaches are open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.

    Lifeguard Hours

    • From the third Saturday in June until Labor Day, lifeguards are on duty between the hours of 10 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Swim at your own risk when lifeguards are not present.

    Admission

    • Unlike most beaches in New Jersey, Wildwood and Wildwood Crest do not require payment (beach tags) to step foot on the beach during the summer season. The Wildwoods have completely free beaches.

    Prohibitions/Entertainment

    • The beaches of Wildwood Crest do not allow ball playing, surf fishing, kite flying or flying discs (for example, Frisbees). You may use floation devices only in posted areas.

    Other Prohibitions

    • The town also bans beachgoers from using alcoholic beverages and obscenities, building fires on the beach or driving on the beach. You also many not bring animals to the beach. Litter must be disposed of in the proper receptacles.
