Learn basic verbs such as go, do and say. These will be the most common and most useful in everyday conversation. Remember to also learn the past, present and future conjugations of each verb. Some of the more common verbs in the English language are irregular, so always verify the correct forms before you begin to memorize them.

    • 3

Create and memorize a vocabulary list of common nouns. Aim to memorize five to ten nouns each day. By memorizing and working on them in sections over the course of 28 days, it will seem easier than trying to remember and recall a long list.

    • 4

Make a list of useful phrases that are common in all languages. You may want to include a lot of simple questions among these phrases. This can include questions such as "Where is the bathroom?" or "How much is it?" Being able to recall these phrases and understand the responses will make it much easier to get the information you need when you cannot fully understand English.

    • 5

Listen to audio lesson tapes. This lets you listen to phrases and words rather than just reading them on paper. Audio lessons will also let you practice having a conversation in English with a recording. This will give you valuable speaking experience.

    • 6

Find a fluent English speaker and practice conversations with them. Talking to a live person that can help you with the language is essential. A live person will be able to correct your pronunciation and conjugation immediately. This will help you develop a greater command of the language.
