How to Choose Flights by Plane Size

Choose your flights by plane size to ensure a comfortable trip. Planes range in size to carrying a handful of passengers in small planes to large transatlantic flights using planes that carry hundreds. You can use specific airline websites or travel websites to search for flights and the type of plane each flight uses. Different-sized planes offer different services, such as plugs for laptops or seat-back televisions.

Instructions

    • 1

Find a flight that you're interested in on a website. You typically search by entering a departure point, destination and date.

    • 2

Select one or more flight(s) that meet your requirements for departure time and date, and then click on "Flight Details" to pull up further information on the flight. Take note of the type of plane.

    • 3

Go to a plane-mapping site such as SeatGuru to find further information on the plane's size and layout, and on-board features of each plane.

    • 4

Search for your plane using the name of the airline as well as the make and model of the plane. For example, a complete search would include "Air New Zealand Airbus A320" or "Southwest Airlines Boeing 737-300."

    • 5

Click "Search" and wait for the result to load. The resulting page will display a full map of the plane, showing the number of seats and the location of features such as bathrooms and television monitors.

    • 6

Repeat steps 3 through 5 for all flights until you find a plane that suits your needs.
