If you are planning to travel to Las Vegas, Nevada, preparation for your journey should include having your reservations made and making sure you have some activities planned upon your arrival. Whether you are traveling by plane, tour bus or driving to Las Vegas, you will have a great time and you will want to return to see things you may have missed the first trip.
  1. Choose Accommodations and Make Reservations

    • There are hundreds of hotel casinos to choose from on the Las Vegas strip. If you want to be off the main strip you can try down town historic Vegas which has hotels like the Four Queens. The main strip has new luxurious casino motels like the Bellagio, Mirage, MGM Grand, Luxor and Excalibur. In these themed resorts you can enjoy pyramids and the sphinx, or you can see ancient Rome at Caesar's Palace. Review the casino amenities online and find the perfect one for you and your family's needs.

    Pack for Your Planned Activities

    • If you are going to stay at a hotel casino which has shows at night, pack some nice clothes for dining and dancing afterward. If you are lounging poolside and enjoying the day spas, bring your swimsuit. Bath robes are usually provided to guests. Las Vegas is in the Nevada desert it is 90 to 100 degrees in the summer, and slightly cooler at night. Bring shorts, t-shirts, jeans and a light jacket for nighttime. Decide how much your spending budget is and don't take your credit card to the casinos. Instead bring a small amount of cash and set your spending limit.

    Traveling by Plane, Bus or Driving

    • If you are flying into Las Vegas, dress comfortably and pack one small travel suitcase. A shuttle bus will take you to the strip or you can rent a car at the airport, but make reservations ahead of time. If you go with a tour bus and a group, also pack light and stay together. Be aware of the time stipulations set by the tour guide. If you are driving, bring a large ice-cooler full of ice, juice, soda and other beverages in case of car troubles on highway routes through the desert. Pack snacks because stores are far apart once you enter the desert. Add gas to your vehicle and check your water and oil before departing. Pack sunscreen and bring your cell phone.
