Adventuredome is a 5-acre, air conditioned, indoor amusement park. It offers 16 rides and other attractions such as an arcade. The thrill rides include a 55-mph roller coaster called the Canyon Blaster that goes through twp loops and a corkscrew. It also has a log flume type ride called the Rim Rummer. The Slingshot literally launches you up into the air and back down again. Other rides include bumper cars and a pirate boat ride. For general family rides the park offers a hot air balloon ride, a carousel and a BC Bus ride. It also offers three rides for the younger children in the family, including a mini roller coaster and an airplane ride. For other attractions they offer Sim Ex Theatre which features SpongeBob SquarePants is an exciting 4-D event where you can play lazer tag with your family and friends. The park is located indoors, which is beneficial due to the Las Vegas heat. It also offers a full day rate of $24.95 for unlimited rides.
The Shark Reef is located at Mandalay Bay in an air-conditioned facility. This aquarium type attraction offers 14 exciting exhibits. In the Golden Crocodile exhibit you are able to come up close and personal with this fabulous creature. Another attraction features the Komodo dragon. The colorful Cichlids from Lake Tanganyika are housed in another wonderful attraction. You also get to learn about the world's second largest lizard, the Asian Water Monitor, here at this exciting place. The Shipwreck exhibit is wonderful because the fish are swimming above, below and beside you. There are also interactive exhibits, including the Touchpool where stingrays and crabs reside.
The ticket prices are $16.95 for adults and $10.95 for children ages 5 to 12. Children 4 and under are free.
Another place you can take the kids is the Lied Discover Museum. It was voted Best of Las Vegas in 2008 by the Las Vegas Review Journal Poll. It offers hands on activities for toddlers through adults. One popular exhibit is Grossology. This exhibit covers how the body works. Admissions rates are $8 for adults and $7 for children.
If you are looking for a place to learn about the environment, you should visit the Springs Preserve. Here you can visit the Mojave Center, Desert Living Center, Trails/Gardens, Botanical Gardens and enjoy a show in the children's theatre. Learn about sustainability and enjoy themed trails and gardens. This attraction is best for ages 5 through adults. Admission rates are $18.95 for adults and $10.95 for children ages 5 to 17. Under 5 years of age there is no charge.
