Research the parks and locate the nearest Legoland. On the West Coast, Legoland California is found in Carlsbad, just outside of San Diego. Legoland Florida, scheduled to open in October 2011, is in Winter Haven, less than an hour from Orlando. Legoland Billund in Denmark, Legoland Windsor near London, England and Legoland Gunzberg in Germany are European options.
Check for seasonal discounts if planning a trip on a set budget and have flexible travel dates. If your family wants to see a particular show or event such as holiday fireworks, confirm the dates and times.
Reserve hotel accommodations unless you live within a short driving distance of Legoland. Legoland California offers a list of nearby recommended hotels. Stay at a hotel within walking distance of Legoland if you're not renting a car or driving your own. Ask about airport and Legoland shuttles and other services when booking your rooms.
Make your travel arrangements. Each Legoland offers an online map with driving directions. Otherwise, reserve a flight to San Diego, Orlando or Tampa, London, Billund or Munich. Make sure you have the proper international travel credentials, such as a passport. Also, secure transportation from the airport to your hotel if not automatically offered by the hotel.
Arrive the evening before you want to go through the park so you can get there when it first opens the next morning. Spend at least one or two days enjoying Legoland.
