Passengers are allowed one piece of hand luggage with a maximum size of 56 by 45 by 25 cm (22 by 18 by 10 inches), which can fit in the overhead bin or under the seat in front. Each handbag, briefcase, laptop and laptop bag is counted as one piece. Liquids are allowed in the hand luggage but must fit in a transparent, re-sealable 1 liter (1 quart) plastic bag with a maximum size of 20 by 20 cm (8 by 8 inches). The liquid in each container must be less than 100 ml (3.4 oz.). In addition to the standard hand luggage, passengers are allowed a standard sized bag of purchased items from the airport and one of the following: an overcoat, umbrella or shawl.
Musical instruments (including its carrying case) are allowed with a maximum size of 30 by 117 by 38 cm (12 by 46 by 15 inches). Instruments that fit into the size category include violins, violas, piccolos, flutes, clarinets, bugles and trumpets. Any instrument larger than the maximum allowance must be transported as checked luggage. Instruments must also be placed in the overhead bin and final decisions are strictly subject to the captain's discretion.
The transport of live animals including pets, insects and reptiles are not allowed and strictly enforced. Service dogs for the disabled (the only exception) are allowed on all United Kingdom domestic flights and on all flights beginning and ending within mainland Europe. They are not permitted on any flight that connects the United Kingdom to mainland Europe or Morocco.
