1. Seller's Signature: The seller(s) must sign and print their full names in the "Seller(s) Signature(s)" section of the title. If there are multiple owners (sellers), each must sign the title.
2. Buyer's Signature: The buyer(s) must sign and print their full names in the "Buyer(s) Signature(s)" section of the title. If there are multiple buyers, each must sign the title.
3. Date: The date of the sale should be clearly indicated on the title.
Before signing the title, both the seller and the buyer should ensure that all necessary information, such as the vehicle identification number (VIN), odometer reading, and purchase price, is correctly recorded on the title.
Once both parties have signed the title, it must be submitted to the ADOR within 20 days from the date of sale to transfer the vehicle's ownership. The ADOR will process the title transfer, update its records, and issue a new title to the buyer.
By requiring both the seller and the buyer to sign the title, Alabama ensures that the ownership transfer process is legally valid and helps prevent fraudulent transactions. It also provides an official record of the sale and facilitates future transactions involving the vehicle.
