Wanderlust World Wanderlust World After World War II had broken out, SS _Paris_ remained docked at Le Havre and served as temporary lodging for war refugees fleeing the invasion of Poland.[8] On June 3, 1940, after German troops advanced close to her berth, her master scuttled SS _Paris_ to deny her use to the Axis.[10] In 1947 the French salvaged her and repaired her damages in the Chantiers de l'Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire using hull parts recovered from Île de Batz.[citation needed]
