Book your stay at business hotels on weekends. These are the slow days for business travel. Many hotels offer discounted rates during these times. The excepetion to this rule is Las Vegas where the hotels and resorts increase their rates. Book hotels in Las Vegas between Sunday and Thursday for the cheapest room rates.
Check in late. Most travelers check into the hotel between 11:00am and 3:00pm. Check in after 7:00pm if possible. Desk clerks know what rooms are available and are more apt to grant discounted rates for the rooms.
Scour the internet for bargain rates or coupons for hotel stays. Book your rooms through the hotel websites and enter the coupon codes or call the hotel directly and give them the coupon code.
Join travel clubs such as AAA or Good Sam. Look for hotels that have partnerships or agreements with these clubs to provide members with discounted stays. Additional benefits to joining these travel clubs are free towing, roadside rescue and retail store discounts.
