Kinder, Louisiana is a small town located in the southern portion of the state and 45 minutes from Lake Charles. Kosati Pines Golf Course (koasatipines.com) is an 18-hole par 72 championship golf course operated by the Coushatta Casino Resort. The golf course is surrounded by pine trees and huge oaks. The golf course offers six sets of tees, multiple approaches on three holes, plus a 19th hole dubbed as the "Gambling Hole." Thew golf course is spread across 65 acres and located near the casino. Golf lessons are also available in 30-minute and one-hour sessions.
Coushatta Casino Resort (coushattacasinoresort.com) provides travelers an opportunity to enjoy a list of amenities at Red Shoes RV Park. Those staying in the RV park enjoy free shuttle bus service to the casino as well as amenities on 40 acres of land that include a lake with pier; courts for tennis, basketball, volleyball and shuffleboard; a swimming pool complex; a lodge with a fireplace, game room; and a convenience store. A children's playground, horseshoe pits and picnic areas are also located on the premises.
Whiskey Chitto Creek (whiskeychitto.com) offers canoeing and fishing for those interested in enjoying nature and the outdoors. Fish available for catch here include largemouth bass, striped bass, spotted bass and bream. Canoe rentals are provided as well for those seeking to enjoy the fresh waters of the creek. The canoe rental facility, T & J Canoe Rental, provides more than five acres of on-site parking, indoor restrooms, showers and changing rooms. T & J also provides first-time canoe paddlers with a pre-launch briefing that covers basic canoeing and safety practices.
