Charleston, SC is know for it's Southern culture and for being the location of the 1st shot of the Civil War.

Fort Moultrie is another fort from the Civil War days, but has an admission price of only $3.00. The Confederate Museum is also a great deal at only $5.00.
Consider some of the free historic sites which include: Fort Lamar Heritage Preserve, Magnolia Cemetery, the Citadel Museum, and the Battery. Historic paintings can also be viewed at City Hall for free.
To get a real bang for your buck, check out the Charles Towne Landing. The admission is only $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for children and it includes: The Animal Forest - a 22-acre zoo, The Adventure - a 17th century trading ship, the Legore-Waring House, an experimental crop garden, bike trails, flower gardens and more!
And finally, don't forget some of the free attractions the city has to offer. These include: Kiawah Island, the Avery Museum, Rainbow Row and Waterfront Park, which is home to the famous Pineapple Fountain.
