When visiting Europe, Antwerp is a city not to be missed. It is easy to traverse and has a unique history not to mention the best beer and some of the greatest restaurants in Europe. There are no direct flights from the United States to Antwerp and to get there you must fly in to the Brussels Airport. Antwerp is about 60 KM north of Brussels and their are a variety of ways to get there. The express bus is the cheapest and probably the fastest and not well known by many visitors.
Stop at the one of the currency exchange booths while waiting for your luggage. Change a small amount of US Dollars into Euros. You will get a better rate at a bank or even your hotel compared to the airport exchange.
Gather your luggage and proceed through customs. When exiting customs, stay to the right. Take the escalators or elevator to level 0. Follow the signs to the bus. The coaches leave from the back of platform B at the bus station.
Every hour a direct coach service departs from the airport to the city center of Antwerp. This coach service is operated every day of the week from 5:00 a.m.to 12 midnight. You buy tickets on the bus from the driver.
The driver will load your luggage below the coach, there is room on board for carry ons. There is no need to tip the driver. The seats are comfortable and the bus stops at the Embassy Suites Hotel on the outskirts of Antwerp and at central station. Cabs are always available at both locations.
