Visit in the winter if you want to avoid the largest crowds and get the best deals. Do note that the water will be chilly, which doesn't matter if you don’t mind a “cool” swim.

    • 2

Make a budget for each of the activities you want to take part in before you leave. You can look up the rates for the dolphin swim and other attractions. This will relieve some “sticker shock” for you when you get there. Also, plan how much you want to spend in the casino and on shopping.

    • 3

Study a map of the resort before you go. Get familiar with the layout so you will not be completely lost when you get there. Stake out spots close to your particular hotel that you think you'd like to visit often.

    • 4

Measure your kids to make sure they are 48 inches or taller. This is a height requirement on many of the water slides and for the dolphin interaction. You may want to avoid these activities if your child doesn’t meet the requirement. It is incredibly disappointing for a youngster who wants to swim with the dolphins to find out when he gets there that he is a couple inches too short.

    • 5

Book a trip that includes a meal plan to save money. Dining at Atlantis can be expensive. A pre-paid meal plan (starting at about $75 per adult, per day, and $35 per child, per day) may be a feasible option for you.

    • 6

Make reservations for dining. Many of the Atlantis restaurants are very popular, especially at traditional dining times, so it is nice to have a table waiting for your party.

    • 7

Take a few notes on your vacation. Write down favorite attractions, shopping and pools so you can return later, or during a future trip.

    • 8

Use the shuttle when traveling big distances from your hotel. It is free, but you may have a 20-minute (or more) wait time.

    • 9

Buy aqua socks to wear in the lagoons and around the park. Your feet will thank you---especially when you are in a coral reef area.

    • 10

Balance out each day’s activities. For example, if you do something very physical, such as water slides and rock climbing all morning, plan a spa visit and some relaxing pool time in the afternoon. Spread out activities so you can include some time for beach combing and sightseeing.

    • 11

Enjoy the night life at the resort. Choose between the venues to find something everyone in your party will enjoy. Don’t tire yourselves so much during the day that you are unable to take advantage of the entertainment at night.
