How to Get a Visa to Travel to the US From Spain

Nationals of most countries need to obtain a visa in advance to travel to the United States, but Spain is part of the Visa Waiver Program, VWP, which allows Spanish passport holders to avoid the hassle of issuing a visa. However, citizens of VWP-eligible countries are required to present an Electronic System for Travel Authorization, ESTA, before they are allowed to enter a U.S.-bound airplane. In addition, permanent residents of Spain who hold a foreign passport may need to follow the traditional method of U.S. visa issuance.
