Print and complete the Visa Application Form 48R from the Australian Immigration website (see the Resources section of this article).
Locate the nearest Australian Consulate office and set an appointment to apply for a tourist visa. The nearest office can be found in the government section of your phone book or through an online database such as Embassies Abroad--see the Resources section of this article for link.
Present a valid passport and at least two recent identical passport photos. They must be in color, 35 by 45 mm in size, and taken against a light background. Your local Consulate office will typically provide a photo service at an extra fee; otherwise you will be responsible for providing them by other professional means.
Submit your completed application and travel documents to an Immigration Officer at the Consulate. An ETA tourist visa is free of charge, but there is a service fee that differs with each office ranging from 10-12 Euros. Australian offices in the U.K. can only accept Visa, MasterCard, Maestro/Switch (only from U.K. and Irish banks), Solo, and bank drafts.
Provide a stamped, size C5 special delivery envelope with your address to have your visa materials delivered to you. The Australian ETA visa will be issued for three months and take around one business week to process.
