How to Get a Travel Visa to Morocco

Depending upon your country of origin, securing a travel visa to Morocco takes different levels of preparation. What is universal for obtaining a travel (or tourist) visa is holding a passport valid for six months after the first day you enter the country. When traveling internationally, it is always important to take your complete travel itinerary, including accommodations and return flights, to aid in quick passage through customs and security. However, when seeking a tourist visa, a few extra documents are required.

Check the Moroccan Embassy's list of countries that do not require a visa application before arrival online at Themoroccanembassy.com. Some of the larger regions that do not require a visa are North America, the United Kingdom, most of Europe and some South American locations. For those holding a valid passport from any of the approved countries, a tourist visa is not required. Upon arrival, a stamp is placed in your passport, giving you 90 days to travel within Morocco. If you wish to extend your visit, a resident permit is required. A resident permit can be obtained by visiting a local police department in Morocco.

Allow for the appropriate amount of processing time. Visa applications take at least three days, but will take longer during high volume times. It is suggested that those requiring a visa make an appointment at the nearest consulate to ensure a meeting with a visa processor. The Moroccan Embassy in Washington, D.C., accepts questions and comments online if any queries are not answered by the website.
