Where did Lewis and Clark travel?

1. From St. Louis, Missouri, to the Rocky Mountains (May 1804 - August 1805)

- Left St. Louis on May 21, 1804, with a crew of 45 men.

- Traveled up the Missouri River, exploring and mapping the area.

- Reached the Great Falls of the Missouri in June 1805 and had to portage around them.

- Continued on to the Rocky Mountains, reaching Lemhi Pass in August 1805.

2. From the Rocky Mountains to the Pacific Ocean (September 1805 - November 1805)

- Crossed the Continental Divide and descended the Clearwater River.

- Reached the Snake River and followed it to the Columbia River.

- Traveled down the Columbia River to the Pacific Ocean, reaching Fort Clatsop in November 1805.

3. From the Pacific Ocean back to St. Louis (March 1806 - September 1806)

- Left Fort Clatsop in March 1806 and began the journey back to St. Louis.

- Retraced their steps up the Columbia River and over the Rocky Mountains.

- Reached St. Louis on September 23, 1806, completing their expedition.
