    Seven Hour Ghost Hunt

    • Chicago Hauntings is a Chicago organization offering several ghost tours. Its annual Seven Hour Ghost Hunt takes participants through Chicago's Archer Avenue which has given rise to some of Chicago's most renowned ghost tales. Among those are the well-known Vanishing Hitchhiker and Resurrection Mary, "Chicago's most famous ghost," according to PrairieGhosts.com. Mary's story began in the 1930s when travelers and residents claimed to have encountered a beautiful young woman in a white dress who seemed to vanish into thin air. Archer Avenue was built by Irish immigrants on an ancient Indian trail known for spiritual happenings. Descriptions of the horrific work conditions under which the road was built intensify the scare factor. Dinner is included. Tour guides use a vehicle of their choice depending on the number of people on the tour.
