How to get Kalabsha: The least visited great temple in Egypt

Kalabsha is an ancient Egyptian temple located in Nubia, which is part of modern-day Sudan. To reach Kalabsha, you can take the ferry from Aswan to Wadi Halfa in Sudan. Once you arrive in Wadi Halfa, from the ferry point you can take a taxi or bus to Kalabsha, which is located about 15 kilometers away from the ferry point.

1. Reach Aswan: To reach Aswan, you can take a local flight from Cairo, which takes about 1.5 hours. You can also take a train from Cairo to Aswan, which takes about 12-14 hours.

2. Take a ferry to Wadi Halfa: There is a regular ferry service that operates from Aswan to Wadi Halfa, Sudan. The ferry leaves every Tuesday from Aswan and returns every Sunday. The journey takes around 8 hours.

3. Getting to Kalabsha from Wadi Halfa: Once you reach the port in Wadi Halfa you will need to organize transport for your trip to Kalabsha. You can either take a taxi or rent a car. The journey to Kalabsha is around 15 kilometers.

4. Entry to Kalabsha: Upon reaching Kalabsha you will need to purchase an entrance fee in Sudanese Pounds. The amount required will vary depending on current exchange rates.

5. Explore Kalabsha: Once inside the temple complex you are free to explore and take photos. The site boasts a number of well preserved temples including those dedicated to Mandulis and Thutmose III.

To return from Kalabsha you can simply reverse your steps and return back to Aswan.
