Who landed on what beaches d-day?

On D-Day, June 6, 1944, Allied forces landed on five beaches along the Normandy coast of France as part of Operation Overlord, the invasion of Normandy during World War II.

The five beaches, each with its own designated landing force, were:

1. Utah Beach: Assigned to the United States Army VII Corps, Utah Beach was the westernmost landing zone. It was successfully captured with relatively light casualties compared to other beaches.

2. Omaha Beach: Also known as "Bloody Omaha," this beach was assigned to the United States Army V Corps. Omaha Beach faced fierce German resistance and sustained heavy casualties, becoming one of the bloodiest battles of the day.

3. Gold Beach: Assigned to the British Army XXX Corps, Gold Beach faced moderate German defenses and was successfully secured by British and Canadian forces.

4. Juno Beach: Landed on by the Canadian 3rd Division, Juno Beach was the easternmost landing zone for Canadian troops. It faced strong resistance initially, but Canadian forces managed to secure the area.

5. Sword Beach: Designated for the British Army I Corps, Sword Beach faced light German resistance and was captured with relative ease compared to other beaches.
