Golf Vacations in Garden City, New York

Garden City in Nassau County on Long Island, New York, has private country clubs where you can play golf. Nearby, you can also play on public courses. The Red course, designed by Devereux Emmet in 1914, regularly hosts PGA championships. The White, a championship-level course, and the Blue were both designed by Robert Trent Jones. The park also has a driving range where you can practice your shots. Eisenhower Park has an excellent driving range with 60 bays and night hours in-season.

    Bethpage State Park

    • Bethpage State Park, nine miles from Garden City, has five public 18-hole regulation golf courses, including the Black course. The Black course, a championship course hosted the U.S. Open in 2002 and 2009. The challenging course, for walkers only, has one of the highest slope ratings in the northeast. The state park has tennis courts, hiking trails, a bridle path and picnic areas. There are weekly polo matches from mid-June through mid-October.

    Garden City Golf Club

    • Garden City Golf Club is a private country club with a championship golf course. The 18-hole Garden City course, designed by Walter Travis, opened in 1916. The course, with a par of 70, has a rating of 72.8 and a slope rating of 135. Practice your swings at the driving range. The club has tennis and platform tennis courts and dining and banquet facilities. Members can bring guests to play.

    Cherry Valley Club

    • The Cherry Valley Club, a private county club in Garden City, has a rating of 72.0 and a slope rating of 127. The course features 6,705 yards of golf from the longest tees, for a par of 72. The Cherry Valley course, designed by Walter Travis/Devereux Emmet/Frank Duane, opened in 1916. A member can bring a guest to play on the course.
